I just got a program for testing graphics card overclocks (Called Artifact Tester 5). And at stock speeds, i get artifacts on my Geforce3!
    You recieved 75129 DXArtifactMarks.
You got artifacts, please lower your video settings.[/QOUTE]

Is this a very bad sign?

I wouldnt use Artifact Tester. I found that program giving me false report. It keeps saying I can overclock more from my card. Then when I tried running ATItools I was getting artifacts all over the place. Dont know whether you can use ATI Tool but try it anyway. I think the artifact tester on ATI Tool is more accurate.

Is the tester on top, and is it centred on the screen. If it's off to the side, it will pick up artifacts.

    Anyway its rubbish.

I find its pretty easy to see artifacts with my eyes. Load up your favourite game, or 3dmark, or whatever. Jack up the speed after every few minutes, until you get artifacts. Then back it off till they are gone.
