Does that mean i can only install windows xp on it?

nope, i'm not sure wtf XP stands for. however windows xp and athlon xp's are in no way tied together.
you can install whatever os you want to if you're using an athlon xp chip.
(i've tried xp pro, home, 2000 & 98 second edition. you'll have no problems running linux on it either.)

no it does mean that, it means it is optimised for xp

but it will work with linux or whatever

In MS Office XP the XP stands for eXPierance. I have the microsoft release notes on paper somewhere to that effect...

(A) It's not an acronym, it's a name. It has about as much intrinsic meaning as the name Macromedia. The letters don't stand for anything in themselves, but we think this MX family of related applications will deliver a big meaning by the time people are using all of them together later this year.

Thanks Winters. So "MX" just sounds kewl for the new generation of geeks who don cowboy hats and go line-sk8ing at the weekend.

Might as well have called the product family "To TEH MAXX" then, especially considering "Macromedia" does actually appear to mean something when you take the name apart. "Flash TO TEH MAXXX!", that could work. Or not.

Anyone on for shooting a few marketing droids over the weekend? Bring your own live ammo.
