Waking up feeling ill in the morning...

Ok this has been happening now for over a month. I thought it was due to my cannabis usage, but I've stopped for the last few days and it hasn't helped at all. It seems whenever I wake up I feel almost slightly hungover in my stomach, like a type of lingering sick feeling but it only stays for about an hour after waking up. It's weird.

I thought it could have been the cannabis because I thought I was getting dehydrated or something. By the way, in the last 6 months my diet has really gone to shít. It's only in the last month that I've been trying to regain regular eating patterns.

    any ideas?

if it's been going on for a long time, perhaps a doctor would be in order?

is the food that you are eating healthy?

Check your addictive substance intake. (caffeine and sugar are two that people regularly get hooked on), you could be experiencing morning withdrawl symptoms that relieve themselves when you get your fix.

Eating sh1t for 6 months then returning to normal could be also causing you to feel this way (It's like the body realises what you've been doing to it). Stick with the healthy diet and eventually your body will recover.

What sh1t exactly were you eating?

Im the same, I put it down to smoking too much and not getting enough sleep.

That kinda thing is usually down to not eating enough, or eating stuff like too much yeast or too much sugar. Go to the doctor, and maybe get food allergy tests done.

It takes a while for the body to detox and purge the toxins. If it persists, however, a trip to the doctor is in order to check your vitals

I used to have that when i was in first year in college to the point that i was getting sick every morning, and i didn't smoke anything back then either. But i put it down to a bad diet and the fact that drinking had wrecked my stomach, so a few lifestyle changes and it went away. But that doesn't mean it's the same for you, if it's that bad see a doctor!

I used to get like that alot a couple of years ago. I hadn't eaten a breakfast in years because of it.

It's something that comes and goes with me. I never saw a need to go to the doctor about it though.

Breakfast should never be skipped regardless of how bad you might feel. Make sure to have a little bit of protein at breakfast and avoid sugary cereals (which means pretty much anything by Kelloggs, even bran flakes are loaded with sugar).

It could also be low blood pressure.

    Go to the doctor.

I don't think that it's necessary to see a doctor. It's more of a lingering sickness than a omg I'm about to get sick sickness. I've basically put it down to smoking - because while I used to smoke I would eat junk all day. And I wouldn't eat it in meal format...it would be more of a constant intake of small amounts of food.

I doubt it's low blood pressure either, because if it was then I'd be practically dead when doing my heavy workouts...

Thanks for all the replies though it's really appreciated.

That is interesting... I have the same sort of vague sick feeling in the morning, although I don't drink, I don't smoke, and I eat healthy mommy food at regular times. It doesn't actually stop me from having breakfast, but I used to wake up a lot hungrier.... on the other hand, I am a fairly nervous person and for the last few years nerves have set up house in my stomach. Perhaps I should consider checking the ulcer hypothesis.... It may be off-topic, but any suggestions about a remedy?

I was told by my doctor to stop eating breakfast because every time i ate anything within two hours of waking up, I'd puke it all up almost immmediately. The thing was that any food I ate would be like a shock to my system in terms of blood sugar levels rising rapidly, so my body would reject it. Turns out quite a few people have this problem and so it's not always the case that people should eat breakfast.

I do however realise that most people don't have this problem and it is recommended that you do eat something nutritious in the morning to break the fast.

I'm not a doctor so I'm probably wrong, but that's why I suggested a little bit of protein and to avoid high-sugar foods like cereals. I used to have problems with breakfast too (have problems with my blood sugar) until I had a wholemeal food with protein for breakfast. This type of breakfast causes your blood sugar to rise gradually. Wholemeal foods are things like unsweetened porridge, All-bran, brown toast (not white-bread toast as even this can cause your blood sugar to rise rapidly.) If all else fails try vegetables (not potato) as they are really slow foods.
