Right, I finally got around to learning to dive. Did a 5 day ((2 day training, 3 day liveaboard) with Pro Dive, working out of Carins and diving on the Great Barrier Reef. So got my PADI open water cert.

I even went as far as to do adventure diving with them - deep, night and U/W photography.

So I've really been learning mostly and I'd like to go on a few more dives locally here (Dublin or country) to really get a better feel for it, and before going mad buying equipment.

I've read the stickies above, but there is just so much info there, for a n00b like myself.

So basicly I'm asking for recommendations on what to do now, and with whom, where.:D

    Thanking in advance

Do your Advanced Open Water. Scuba Dive West is one place I'd recommend (good showers for a start).

Did you get certs for the Deep dives etc? if so they may count towards the AOW cert.

Agree with Evil P - Advanced Open Water is a good next step as is the rescue diver after that. Scuba Dive West are good - as are Aquaholics if you fancy a trip to Portstewart.

You could also look into CFT (Irish Underwater Council) and dive with a club after doing their crossover www.scubaireland.com

    Ka:-)

Yep, I got the adventure diver cert to cover those few dives- inc deep.

Really at the moment I'm not looking to learn anything untill I get more practice diving - if I have to I will, but not out of preference. I've been on 8 open water dives, and only 1 has been a pleasure dive, all the others have had skills and an instructor. So I really just want to experince the diving!

Thanks for the good contacts by the way

Borzoi dont think of the advanced open water as more training think of it as instructor led diving. The reason I say this is all the dives are really is an instructor led deep/night/drift ect dive with not much theory to learn. From what I remember you had to do 5 dives and it works out (afair) cheaper than 5 individual instructor led dives.

Another really important reason to complete your AOW is that most dive operators will require you are AOW certified to do dives with them.

I'd imagine the dives you have certs for would def count towards AOW certification.

AOW is a good course and the rescue is very good but toughi would suggest getting dived up. Flagship scuba is a good place to learn with a high priority of safety which is why i do my courses there, the also run boat trips on sundays to dalkey island

Yeah, was thinking of trying them. Probably late June though, too much to do at the moment
