Homer: [gasps] Look at these low, low prices on famous brand-name
    electronics!

Bart: Don't be a sap, Dad. These are just crappy knock-offs.

Homer: Pfft. I know a genuine Panaphonics when I see it. And look,
    there's Magnetbox and Sorny.

Salesman: [walking up] Listen, I'm not going to lie to you. Those
are all superior machines. But if you like to watch your TV,
and I mean _really_ watch it, you want the Carnivale'.
[shows Homer and Bart a TV very similar to their old one]
It features two-pronged wall plug, pre-molded hand grip well,
durable outer casing to prevent fallapart...

Homer: Sold. You wrap it up, I'll start bringing in the pennies.

Have only my flatmate's stupid foreign brand piece of crap television. It's probably only 21" and certainly not widescreen. I watch lots of television - anyone want to buy me a brand now 40" flatscreen TV?

Sony 32 inch widescreen trinitron wega. Not great but does the job

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,015 ✭✭✭Ludo

yep...same here. Bought the KV32FX68 a little while back. One thing to note about them. Some shipped with a 3 amp fuse only which blows after a while. It apparently needs a 5 amp fuse. I had to ring sony after my fuse blew to check this.

Have some cheap-brand widescreen. It's good though. The only annoying thing is we get NTL analogue and all the Sky one shows get broadcast in 4:3 crop mode :( Also the guy who owns the tv is a total "stretch the picture" whore. Everything gets watched in distorted aspect ratio. Even when something is being broadcast in letterbox he leaves it with the black bars top and bottom rather than zooming it so that it's takes up all the screen area and is correct aspect ration

Another KV32FX68 here. Have had it a few months now and love it to pieces (metaphorically of course :D). The stand beneath it is fairly full - Amplifier, Sky+, Regular Sky, Video, DVD.

how much did you pay for it, Im looking at getting one and they seem to vary quite a bit from place to place

I have a Sony KV36FS76 (36" widescreen) myself. Great picture from it after setting up with DVD essentials. Only downside is I'm moving into a new house next month and the bloody thing weighs 90kgs.

I just have a 28" JVC, but it does me fine!

Below it are Panasonic digibox, Manhattan Skyline 3000 digital receiver, and cheap Powerpoint DVD Player.

Of course everything is connected to my Kenwood hifi, for superior sound. The hifi has outputs for rear speakers but the last set I connected, blew up after prolonged high volume! :D

21" Panasonic. picture is excellent, Hi-Fi for sound, PS2 for dvd and games

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 954 ✭✭✭Yo Mamma

    I didn’t like the PS2 DVD player, I usually used my X-Box for DVD's
They just seemed to play nicer for some reason and the X-Box remote helped sway the verdict.....

That is until I bought my Philips Multiregion play anything DVD in Dubai Airport...

    Swwwweeeeetttt :D

Same tv as the poster, it's quite najs, again the little shelves are filled with cable box, vcr, dvd and lots o' dvd's. Mmm.. Though I did managed to break one of the screw holders on the front covering piece, fragile bastards. It doesnt affect it luckily, it has like 2 backups..
