    Cable broadband just got faster

Telewest believes some surfers will want more speed
Cable company Telewest is to offer the UK's first three megabit cable broadband service.

First real sign of the UK braking away from the restraints of ADSL.

Does any one know if any cable lines in the UK could provide 11mbps like in the US? Is it just the cost of connecting that to the wider network, or is it not possible with the current hardware they have in place?

Edit: On a funny note to this, I found the article vie Eircom.net

    Threads merged.

Yet again we see how it might have been if cable infrastructure was (re)invested in over here in the late ninetys.
