    I'm finishing up where I work and gave back the Nokia Communicator 9200

    (A brick that combines a computer and phone, fax, web, email etc).

    I'd like to get a phone of my own now.

    Should I go for a basic "talk box" or if wanted to be able to:
    * send faxes
    * do real email
    * Write articles (with real keyboard) to load to PC later
    * do SMS with real keyboard

    Would I get a newer update of the Nokia Communicator or is there something more sensible.

    I don't think the ngage is it, as it deosn't seem to have a keyboard. Nice display though.

    I'm not interested in games on it or a camera.

    (I have a real camera for photographs and could play games on my PC or laptop or even my ancient gameboy. If I wanted to. The kids have GBA, PS etc too. I did quite enjoy Discworld Noir last year, but seen nothing since I wanted to waste time on :D ).

    Hi Watty

    As Ste pointeed out there is a Mobile / PDA board under sci / tech --> Nets / Comms --> Mobile

    Palm make the
    Treo 600 smartphone runs Palm OS 5.2.1H but it costs 800 euro with out a phone contract.

    Also the Siemens SX1 costs 500 euro direct from siemens no contract but no Keyboard.

    Nokia have the 6600 which is the same as the SX1 but cost 50 euro more.
    Also the Nokia 9210i Communicator.

    Then you have the XDA type device made by HTC.

    Hope that helps.
    Eóin
