Trying to get some content from a minidisc to
    wav or mp3 format..

    Following the instructions here

    http://www.minidisc.org/charman/mdtomp3.html

Only problem is that the laptop i'm trying to copy to
has no line in, only a microphone input...

THe site above specifically says not to use the
mic input as it will damage the soundcard and the
    discman ..

    What do you think??

It won't damage the minidisc at ALL, its impossible. BUT, the sound quality won't be great, and i mean that! Minidisc quality isn't that great to begin with.

If you still want to transfer em over, you can use the Mic in, just make sure you start with the volume on its lowest setting, and bring it up slowly until it starts distorting, then bring it down 3 notches.
