Has anyone any experience with these, in particular using them with SKY Digital? I was thinking about getting one of the ones in Argos. I can't seem to find much info on the web.

They used to be great, but now i find my neighbours are changing my channels because everyone is getting them.

If you live a few hundred feet from your neighbours then definitely worth it.

Got a set in Lidl last year for 50 bucks ... best buy I've ever made. Perfect picture and sound quality. I think Aldi have them coming in towards the end of May

Best money I have ever spent on a gadget, I think. We use it all the time, and have the video running through it too. If the video is playing, you see the video, if it goes in to standby, you get Sky. We practically use it all the time, and the picture and sound are perfect.

I bought mine in Maplin, two years ago. Check these out before you buy Argos:

    1. At the time they were €50 less for what is practically the same kit.
    2. Your neighbour probably bought theirs in Argos, so you won't be as prone to the difficulties brendor mentioned.

The only problem I had was that the remote eye (which relays remote signals to the VCR / digibox) really needs to be either 2 ft in front of the digibox, or at the same height as the digibox. I have a plain and simple TV stand, no doors, etc, so I have nowhere to mount the remote eye. However, by careful use of the autoview function you can get round this. (Failing that a little encouragement and you can usually persuade your SO to go change the channel for you!!).

    Maplin Videosender

They are priced at 69.99 in the UK, so in Ireland you could expect to pay €110. I got mine on sale (they feature regularly), and I think I paid €85 or so.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

I take it the ones in Argos are as good, but more expensive?

The Argos AEI ones are good, they have a switchable frequency so if your neighbours are interfering you can move the frequency. They may be newer now but mine came with a hardwired SCART only which is a pain at times. I'd have liked seperate audio and video connections.

They all have four channel choice for TV video + Stereo sound in 2.4GHz band

AFAIK, *none* have a choice for the reverse UHF remote controller channel on 433.085MHz. If that is a problem don't use the IR Led cable and/or tape over IR LED (if fitted) on Transmitter base unit. There is no other legal UHF channel.
