O2 upgraded staccks of people to Nokia MMS compatible phones late last year and early this year.

What O2 neglected to tell those people was that their SIM capacity was a key factor in SENDING MMS .

If your SIM has Digifone printed on it , forget Sending MMS until you get a new one. The older sims often had a capacity of 8k (Hint, 80 numbers max) and render the phone incapable of Sending MMS , get an Upgraded SIM (free) from O2 and you will be fine.

The latest SIM has 32k capacity and can store 250 numbers minimum. I think the 16k SIm which could be branded O2 or Digifone and was issued typically in 2000-2002 is also incapable of sending MMS from a Nokia but am not entirely sure about that. I am sure about the 8k 80 number max jobbies which were still being issued to customers as late as 2001 .

O2 will ALSO give you a free full months MMS if you missed their Christmas Free MMS offer because they NEVER TOLD YOU to upgrade the SIM as well in their OWN shops when you availed of the upgraded phone, they could have done that in a jiffy while you were in. Any crap, ask for the supervisor straight away.

    Muck...iMuck.....
I have an old Digifone SIM and I send and receive A LOT of MMS.
There are currently 42 MMS's in my Inbox and another 12 in my Sent Items.

The capacity isnt restricted by your SIM Card but by your handset.
In my case the handset can store up to 90 MMS's as far as I know.

reading through your posts you appear to have major gripes with O2, both with their Network and their customer Care.
you are an ideal candidate for Mobile Number Portability. would it not be in your best interests to move to another Network, keeping your number in the process?

surely then you wouldn't have anything to complain about.
    Take some action!

Voodoofone pimp are we :D , I have no signal from them where I live.

My handset is a 7250i , the problem arose at the beginning of the year. The Phone had at least 3MB of Shared Memory free at all times so it was not a space issue. The phone was preconfigured with all the IO2 settings when bought in their own shop .

No amount of arse with settings and restarts fixed it, moving cells, retarts, whatever. Finally I got a 32k sim instead of my 8k sim in early January. Off they flew after then.

I spent ages (min 2 hours) onto 1909 and 1740 , a senior tech admitted they knew of an incompatibilty ( on 1740) while 1909 was denying any problem and saying they checked with the techs and they still denied it . Front line and supervisor both, after I named the guy and told supervisor to check with him even.

Finally I mentioned my oul mucker the Small Claims Court and got free MMS till end Mar and a grovel from on high (on very high) for wasting my time and insulting my intelligence to boot.

Had I been told to upgrade my SIM when I upgraded my phone in December then the issue would not have arisen in the first place. O2 knew internally that there was a problem in January and still sold sets to people who subsequently had to upgrade their SIM cards, same as me, I know of 2 others who sorted their MMS sending after a SIM upgrade. Both had 7250i phones as well, it may be a Nokia issue or a 7250i issue or a firmware issue in some of them , I am running V3.22 which has probably been superceded . Nevertheless O2 sold it to me :D and to stacks of others I know . I still like the damn phone by the way as do my mates.

Then there was another farce when I tried to get on their 3G test in January or February. They claimed to have launched 3G and then admitted they had NO billing system and then denied that they said that they launced :( because they could not have launched without a billing system, could they ? would they ?

2 major run ins early this year and 2 muppet boogies in Customer services, thats their entire quota of ****ups used up until the end of 2006 ! They better change that awful hold music, it makes my blood pressure rise !

not sure why they couldn't have a trial without the billing system enabled? could they not run handset/service trials...

maybe leaving 'regular' queries for 1909 and using 1740 for internet/wap support etc. would end up with specific problems being solved sooner

anyhow - you still didn't beat my record 5 months tyring to get MMS working with Voda ;)
