For the past 2 or 3 weeks I have had loads of problems with the damn thing including

    1. Loops where the same message is sent to me multiple times.
    2. Delays where the mesages finally come bucketing in only when I change cells
    3. Really inconsistent delivery reports to and from other O2 sms clients and other carriers too.

Anyone else noticed that it needs some serious maintenance or an upgrade. ?

Is it related to the webiste upgrade one feels inclined to mutter darkly ?

Has anyone complained ...not that it makes any difference with that shower ?

    Bah *%$ :(

These are intermittent problems that I find from time to time with both Vodafone and O2 as opposed to a recent thing. Especially that looping thing.

You are ****ting me, listening to that awful hold music while the CS Droid reads the dictionary to find out what 'Loop' means' <Muck shudderz and quaqz at de thought>. The O2 customer service is by FAR the worst in the country when they are not reading off a script, they simply will not admit they have no idea . At least Meteor and Voodoo will admit they don't know when they don't and won't waste your tiem listening to crap music on hold. None of them have limerick accents either, innit odd that and them 8 years in the place.

I'd rather vox pop it here and if there is a consensus that they are having problems recently, and on what they could be, then we can ALL complain of the same things at the same time. That tends to have more effect ...even on a showeer like the O2 CS droids.

Either that or a particular cell I spend a lot of time in is banjaxed and the problems clear as I leave the cell .

I've noticed the delivery reports are a bit slow lately.Half the time it takes 10 mins+ for a msg to deliver.

haven't been sending a lot of SMS on O2 recently but haven't noticed any problems with any i've sent/received

find O2 customer care grand whenever i call, none of the operators are spectacularly good - the odd rare rare diamond on each of them - i'd find voda the worst of the three of them especially via email - so it can be down to the luck of the draw how good the person you get put through to turns out to be for any company...

Its behaving at the moment . <fingers x'd>

I find that O2 are the worst for keeping the customer away from the staff who know what they are doing. Historically they won't let the customer talk to anybody who understands data for example. Nor will they ever ring you back.

The only way I found to do it is to report a 'coverage blackspot' or a 'coverage issue' , then the Network planners ring you (within 24 hours) and finally after a chat they pass you over to someone who CAN sort your problem or will tell you to flash the OS on your mobile or twiddle with a timing or whatever.

Meteor are very easy to deal with and you can easily talk to very senior people about 'things' that customer care people don't understand ...or are supposed to. I have been a fan for years but that may change if they grow. Still fair is fair, I like dealing with Meteor a lot even if that Coverage map of theirs is off with the fairies.

Vodafone , in my experience, esalate very quickly to techies who do ring back (if necessar) pretty quickly and deal with whatever issue pronto. Their GSM data support has been good for years and a pleasure to deal with in their own right. I would be happy to have these guys supporting a 3G network .

I shudder to think of how O2 will deal with 3G , I think I'll definitely leave them then because they are so utterly clueless and so disinclined to answer any sort of technical queries or to find someone in their organisation who will do so. Its like they are in denial that the customer on the ground has more of a clue than they do.

And I LoooooOOOooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaathe their crappy hold music.

always found calling 1740 grand for any O2 data related issues - had people re-provision me for GPRS, calling me back when they said they would after investigating problems etc... although voda data support are generally good too

for regular customer support, still find Voda come 3rd (out of the three) for me :(

suppose that shows how much a lottery it can be if various people have such different experiences...

Give them a shout and have some examples at the ready.

There tech support people will be able to trace the messages through their SMSC and this will allow them to pinpoint the cause of the problems. The more examples the better!!

Alternatively, you could get them to reset your sms sending and receiving abilities on whatever HLR you are on and also get them to do a "de-reg". Power your handset off and on afterwards and you should be grand.

If not, back to step 1. Its the quickest way to solve the type of problems you are having, if not painless!!

Ah well, the nightly smsc reboots should fix it in no time ;o)

the nightly 'procedure' seems to be working just fine. I will take them to my local small claims court for the 40 unsolicited blank SPAM messages they sent me when their system went into a Loop last week , that will be an easy few quid so it will :ninja:

As the SMSC appears fine now as do my usual cells ... and all since I started this thread funnily enuff, pls lock her up Corinthian :D
