    But does anyone know of some reasonably priced hotels around dublin?

    RIng up the main switch at Jurys they tend to give you offers last one I got was 108 for ballsbridge which isnt bad, they also own a good few hotels around the city not just jury's

    if you can convince them you're from another hotel (maybe one in europe or something so they can't check) they quite often will do very good rates (half price or even comp. sometimes) as a professional courtesy. my g/f used to be a manager in a big dublin hotel ad she's got several rooms complimentary in the country before just for mentioning who she was, even though they would have no idea if she was telling the truth.

    and before you ask, no don't ask. ;)

    she's not there any more, and not the person who'd do it anyway if she was, unless it was family.

    have a look at one of the big london chains (hilton or something like that) and tell them you're the front office manager and were wondering if they could do you a good rate for your brother/parents etc. (pick one) and see if they bite.

    if it doesn't work then hang up and ring back the next day if you still want to stay there and see if you can haggle the conventional way.
