Disconect power supply from Digi Box. Press the back up button on the digi box not the remote control. At the same time reconect power supply, Wait until all 4 lights come on that will do the job.

That's right, but just to avoid confusion...remember to hold down the backup button while it's powering up...

I'd also take out the card before doing this - just in case :)

(Slightly OT: Have a Panasonic DSB-40 and haven't gotten the latest updates yet - though as to whether I'm really missing much is debatable ;) - anyone else the same?)

I also have the Panasonic Box and haven't recieved the updated software yet, even though i have done a forced software download.

The only feature i am waiting on it the ability to set a differnt aspect ratio for the second TV on the RF out, as this tv is a 4:3 in a bedroom compared to the 16:9 widescreen in the living room.

It does the *SAME* aspect ratios on all TVs.

What the new SW does is use one of two aspect settings, for *ALL* TVs connected depending of *ANY* IR remote via front panel, or *ANY* IR remote received by "sky eye" on RF2.

There has been a lot of confusion about this.

whichever IR sensor last saw any command is what Aspect is used for ALL TVs connected.

There is only one MPEG2 decoder / frame store / DAC set of hardware, so RF1, RF2, S-video, VCR SCART, TV SCART etc always have the same picture. The only variation possible is RGB vs Composite as the Composite is generated at the same time as RGB from the MPEG2 decoders Frame Store / DAC which internally is coded not as RGB or Composite PAL, but Y U V, similar to (but not actually) "component format". This applies also to Sky+, which is why though it has two tuners you can only watch playback or Tuner1 or Tuner2 with *SAME* video on all RF and TV/VCR outputs.

    thanks for califiying that watty.

In my situation its still useful as we only watch one tv at a time, so when we use the remote with the remote eye on the second tv on the RF cable it will use the 4:3 setting, and if we use the remote on the digibox in the living room it will turn on the 16:9 setting.

Anyone else know why the panasonic boxes have not picked up the new software yet, are sky still phasing in the release of it.

Updates are being phased in until July in weekly or 10 day intervals, so I would not worry yet if your Panasonic (New DSB50 By Chance?) has not picked it up.

AFAIK if you actually miss the release window for your particular model (ie: the box was powered off or out of service for a while, or the duration of the release) then a forced download will only work if and when ALL models have been updated, and the new software has become the standard for all.
