    Few of the 50-strong team working on an internal project last year were aware that the company's owners had already decided to cash in their huge profits. The project, code-named Pittsburgh, was preceded by Project Juve.

    The documents show that in late 2002 Juve had uncovered the terrible state of the network. Customers had got used to poor performance from their lines from the dominant phone company and that they no longer bothered to complain to Eircom or the regulator, ac cording to Eircom senior managers.
