Custom movie still prints?

Prolly a bizarre request, but does anyone do custom movie still prints? As in "STOP THERE, PRINT THAT!"? I'd love a print a certain scene from The Marx Brothers' Monkey Business but I have no idea how to go about it.

Recommendations for a better place to ask most welcome. :)

Adam, if you have the film on DVD you can just get a capture and print the photo or send it somewhere that does.

The still by any chance wouldn't be this one

I didn't explain that very well, did I? There's two great scenes with Groucho and Thelma Todd in the movie, and I fancy printing and framing a still from one of the scenes for my new flat. I might well be able to do it from that DVD, and even if I can't I'd prefer to have the movies on DVD anyway. So thanks to both of you!

Adam, had a look around for some Marx Brothers stuff. (This topic sparked my own interest in them) It seems that you can only buy collections of their stuff over here but in the US you can get them individually. For instance I found Monkey Business going on Ebay.com for $5.50. That auction ends in about 5 hours so you'd want to get cracking if you want that. Here's the link Here's the link.

If you have a multiregion DVD player there are alot of Marx Brothers stuff on Ebay. Otherwise I think you're stuck with collections.

Just bought that collection on Play.com Raoul Duke. Picked up Farscape Season One while I was at it! :)

I'll be looking for their harder-to-find stuff later though, so thanks for that anyway. Never think of eBay...

(Watched Monkey Business on VHS today. What a classic.)

As someone suggested, why not try grabbing a still using the DVD, and then rasterbating it? Way more eye-catching than some crummy print :D

Thanks for that link. I'm definitely bookmarking it for future reference. Have you got anything of the site yourself? If so what was the quality like?

Well, the way it works is that you end up with a .pdf that you can print out yourself. I did it last night with a couple of images, and the end result is pretty impressive. With a bit of imagination, and creativity (and good quality paper), I'm sure you could get something spectacular.

    I also noticed that I got the best results when I used a low-resolution source image (200px * 200px outputting 5' * 5').

What do you use to take screen grabs of DVDs?

You would of course need a DVD player on your pc. Most of them do...like PowerDVD, Zoomplayer. If you have a divx file or it's equivalent most players for those files can capture a frame as well. Just look in it's help file.

There is a programme called "fraps" that you will find most usefull.

You just open up fraps and set the settings to take a screenshot or record and avi.
Then you hit f9 and whatever is on your screen at that moment gets recorded either to an avi or else a picture. saves it were ever you have installed fraps.

Btw fraps is freeware gl and hope this helped
