PRoblem with DVD ROM

    My LG DVD ROM started acting up recently. It reads CDs fine but when I put in a DVD it spins up a bit and then just stops and doesnt recognise the DVD. Its kind of a hit and miss thing sometimes it will read the DVD other times not. Anyone have an idea what the problem might be and how i could fix it?

    it sounds broke to me :p buy a new one

    is it an old drive? could be the drive wasnt designed to read some of the newer dvd formats. have you tried a firmware upgrade, if thats possible? or cleaning the lense gently?

    From the info i got - clean it wiith a drive cleaner. if all else fails, get a new DVD drive. They all gotta die sometime. I miss my ripper and DVD drive.

    Tested it with some od the DVDs its read fine in the past and its still a no go.

    What really get me is the fact it reads CDs fine and not DVDs. If the lens was dirty wouldnt it hae trouble reading either?

    they can be fickle creatures, try it in a diferent pc if possible
