I'm missing something here. Could somebody explain to me why the sleaze maggot moguls that get fat from this "industry" would interrupt their multi-billion dollar feeding frenzy out of concern for the good health of a few disposable and dispensible performers?

This obnoxious business profits on the continuous supply of "fresh meat". There will always be a steady stream of gullible and star-struck young people heading for Hollywood with dreams of fame and celebrity. Ripe for exploitation. Ripe to be used, abused and cast aside at the first sign of wrinkle or cellulite.

The fact that porn "star" Darren James has contracted HIV won't have any noticeable effect on the amount of "product" churned out from Calif or elsewhere IMHO.

Because they are afraid of government regulation. If they look like they dont care, they could get a whole bunch of new laws, which would upset the industry.
They have to look like they're doing something so they can get away with self regulation for the future.
Whether the poiticians see through it and bring in laws to protect the people anyway.. we'll see.

well pro, its quite simple really, there is the possible crack-down on the business if they are found out to be doing nothing to control a very very dangerous virus.

also, if they let HIV spread unchecked, it would be very easy for it to kill off the actors, as they would all get infected very easily. Including the 'fresh meat'

They'll just move to Eastern Europe or Asia where they can get 'actresses' cheap.

    D'know, I think you're right there; I think you're spot on.

I reckon this whole thing smells of hypocrisy ............ a cynical effort by the Porn Industry to portray itself as a "responsible" community solely concerned with the health and well-being of those that it so shamelessly exploits.

Anyhow, I still believe the call by the Adult Industry Medical Foundation for a sabbatical for every porn performer to have a check-up to be a laughable and self-righteous insult to all moral people. And who cares; what difference will that make to the flood of porn, most of which (especially the truly dodgy stuff) that originates anyway in Russia?

The porn industry are reasonably responsible though.

Everyone has regular HIV checks (although not for other STD's.)

The problem in this case was the window of time between infection and the results from later tests.

I do have sympathy for these people, especially Lara Roxx who was only a new comer to the industry and had never done an internal ***shot before.

    ...

It's sad. While some people may have issues with porn, these are just people trying to survive. They're still people.

To be fair, that's irrelevant to the spread of HIV through intercourse.

And I do agree, whether you agree or disagree with porn its not nice to hear stories like this.
