    Hi,

    Background:
Im a SQL Access VB6 VBA and NET C# ASP.NET developer currently temping in a dublin based company,

    Situation:
Just been offered my 3nd consecutive 3 month contract with my current company.

    Problem:
Now im not contracting as in paid at a daily rate, rather im a temp worker on a contract based on a fixed yearly salary over the space of 3 months, so say my yearly salary would be 30K (which its sadly not :( ) im paid for 3 months as if i was a permanent worker earning this salary.

Thats ok with me, but ive heard that there is legislation stating that a temporary worker can only be hired on consecutive temporary contracts a certain number of
times before they must be offered a permanent job???

anybody know any more on this or have/had a similiar experience??

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you, on a 3 month salaried contact. Not that my rates are all that high (or ever were relative) but that's what they wanted. I reckon it costs them more - but who am I to argue :)

Can an employer employ an employee on a series of Fixed-Term contracts indefinitely?
    No

    ...

Where such an employee is employed by his or her employer or associated employer on two or more continuous fixed-term contracts, the aggregate duration of those contracts may not exceed 4 years.

The above-mentioned rules do not apply where there are objective grounds justifying the renewal of a contract of employment for a fixed term only.
