CDDB and Mp3?

I`m converting my CD collection to Mp3 using CDEX which works fine and can d/load the cd info from CDDB to save a lot of typing, however I have quite afew cds recorded from tape so the automatic Cddb option is out. Apart from d/loading the whole database from Freedb (215MB), is there any way to d/load single cd info apart from cutting and pasting to enable CDEX to apply it to the tracks. I`d appreciate help on this.

There was a program knocking around a few years ago called MP3 Filename Formatter or something like that. It would take info from a text file and do a batch rename on your MP3s.

i think MP3 TagStudio allows searching for album info, and then applying it to an album of choice. If not, its the other big one, who'se name i've temporarily forgotten.

EDIT: The other one is "Tag & Rename"

afaik Tag & Rename is shareware (times out after 30 days i think)

    try mp3tag
    http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

its pretty cool. it'll look up stuff in cddb, or you can change things like Artist, Album, etc and apply it to a load of tags at once. it'll also get tag info from the filename (and vice versa). nothing really new here but its free!

try k-mp3. I find it very useful. YOu can say select all mp3s from one album - then search cddb for that album and tell the program to rename your mp3s.

Try musicbrainz - it uses acoustic fingerprinting technology to identify songs, then writes id3 tags and renames the file for you.

ID3 Tagit has a pretty nifty feature for taking tags from the filenames and vice versa. Freeware as well. Newest version requires the .Net framework to be installed (20meg or thereabouts download from microsoft), the previous version doesn't.

Reporting back!. I tried out K-MP3 and it does the job very well, just type in the band or album name and you get a selection to choose from and Presto!. Thanks again.
