I have recently bought a dell laptop with wireless network card and a router. What I want to do is connect the router to my desktop so I can use the internet with my laptop but the router says it will only work with a ethernet modem. My pc has a utv usb modem and a NVIDIA nForce MCP Networking Adapter. Can I connect the router to my network card in my desktop and go online using the usb modem with my laptop?

The router is a Dell™TrueMobile™2300 Wireless Broadband Router.

    Please Help!!

You could connect the USB modem to a desktop PC and share it's connection over the network (Internet Connection Sharing in Windows easiest way), but that would defeat the purpose of having the router. It would be tidier by far to buy an ethernet modem, or a router with the modem built in.
