Im getting sky + and having a few problems.Heres my email I sent to sky today.See what they say

    Dear Sky,

I ordered Sky+ with relocation of my existing digibox on 23rd March 2004.You told me that it would be installed on 31/3/04 which was fine. Then on the 31/3 I asked for the day off work to be ready for the installation.

The installer said on the phone that morning that he was unable to do the installation as my second sub card wasnt posted out due to the postal strike. He said he had to make a call back even though I heard of people that got it installed anyway and then waited for their card to be posted out.I was upset.

However I then rang the next day as the postal strike ceased to organise another installation.I was told on the phone that another installation could not be booked until I recieved my card.I thought it was bit stupid because the strike was over and the card was on the way but I waited anyway.

Then on the 13/4/04 I recieved my sky digital second sub card.I was delighted because I thought Id never get it.So I rang sky immediatley to get an install date.I was told that my order was CANCELLED and it had to be reordered which meant that my new sky card was invalid and as useless as an old bank card!Great so I had to go through the whole order thing again and I hafta await yet another card.

You said you couldnt install until 26/4/04 even though we went through all this ****.I expected priority as were waiting over a month but yet were still being put back to the end of the cue

I deserve compensation of some sort as Im a loyal customer for nearly 2 years either a free months viewing or a closer install date.

    Please Reply

    Graham Mc Namara

doubt ill get anything but **** it im pissed with them

    It's just so frustrating, isn't it ?

I remember a few years ago having terrible problems with NTL. -The usual thing - taking time off work, no show, no phone call, waiting forever on the phone. Eventually (to my shame) I threatened them with the Gerry Ryan show.

Believe it or not, it worked. I was put through to a manager and got the connection done for free.

I think the trick is to stay polite, but let them know that you're angry and disappointed. It might be worth pointing out that you have friends interested in getting the same thing but that you wouldn't encourage them to do so due to the bad service you've recieved.

    Best of luck.

Yeah, once you threaten to publicise them , or get the law involved, the companies go all wimpy.

Btw. What's the e-mail address for sky?

I think the moral of the story is use a recommended local independent dealer, you can still do this while awaiting your card.

    tony..

i went to your website at lunchtime today and it said that it was 150euro to install sky wit relocation of an existing digibox!I thought it was steep so thats why I rang sky again because they did it for 94 or something..plus when browsing you didnt have it available in the shop area..it just has the option to purchase the sky + box..thought that was a bit weird anyway

    btw email for sky is

    skydigital@bskyb.com

well firstly I meant any independent dealer not necessarily me ;)

We charge 75 euro per cable run, ie 75 to to install sky + and 75 for re location cable run. I think this is a fair price, if it was any lower quality would suffer, but thats what competition is all about, customer decides whats best.

I'm not sure what you mean by not available in the shop area, it has two options, one just to buy a sky box and one with installation.

In any case sky do certain things cheaper like second box installations as they subsidise these but do not allow retailers to offer the same rates.

Ask yourself this though what price do you put on the time you have wasted?

Hope it works out for you

got a reply!im happy at last!got a bit of credit!

Thank you for contacting us regarding the above account.

I am sorry to learn that the installation of Sky plus did not go ahead as planned on the original installation date. The engineers will not carry out the installation if you have not received the viewing card as they cannot check if the equipment is working without the card.

Unfortunately, I cannot arrange an earlier date than the 26th April. Sky as a company cannot be held responsible for the mail strike in your area, however I have applied a viewing credit of 20.00 (euros) to your subscription account, you may wish to book some Box Office movies with this credit., if not it will be deducted form your monthly subscription.

I hope this information has been of some help and if I can be of any further help please feel free to contact me at the above email address.

    Yours sincerely
