I've got it on an extended partition, straight forward installation, although it did take a while (~1hr); and has reminded me that I really hate bluecurve.

As for performance, cant say I've noticed much change, but then again I really havnt used it much.

    I have got FC 2 T2 --> 4 CD's
I don't know how they have distributed the OS upto 4 CD's.

But i have gone thru most of the forums, the only thing i have seen is
    (1) the Rhyme about the bugs
    (2) First CD not bootable etc.
    (3) Most of them prefer Fedora Core 1.

Did (BenH) you face with any problems ? or Was it straight forward !

    cheers,
    RHN

4 CD's, first one booted fine, it just worked.

I just have to emphasise that I've only used it for about an hour total so there will probably be bugs about, but as its close to a final release theres unlikely to be many.

Noticed a link to a DVD iso on the official download server but it's dead. I did a search and found some sites carrying the DVD iso as well as the CD iso(s). I wonder if this is official as it's not on the Fedora download server...

My install went very smooth upgraded from Redhat 9 to fedora core 1
    Great Release..

I have noticed you must have PLUG AND PLAY = YES in your BIOS
for Fedora core 1 to load correctly

    FEDORA CORE 2 TEST
I have loaded fedora core test 2 and thats what it is just a test OS
I have found lots of stuff missing from the 2.6 kernel and many bugs in kde 3.1.9 that it comes with.

I had the same problem with the first cd not booting. I thought it was just me. What did you do to install it?

Have you checked your MD5 sums, first? A corrupted download is the most likely cause of failiure.

Dunno about FC2 but most distributions used to come with an install boot floppy image and a tool for writing it on one of the CD's.
