Did anyone else see the Unreal3 tech demo, running on NV40? Quite a leap from whats considered excellent today.

Those benchmarks are fantastic, though the 9800XT scores suspiciously low in Aquamark. My GFs 9800Pro gets 48.5k while the benchmark shows the 9800XT getting less than 20K.

I saw some screen shots of the unreal 3 demo. Do you have a video of it?

Very interesting. That's some performance. Looking forward to seeing benchmarks comparing Ati and Nvideas new line up.

Anyone buying one of these babys on release?

Think I'll wait about a year.

Yeah, wait till the battle begins between ATI and NV. :) Also wait until there's some software released that really challenges it. The Unreal3 stuff looks excellent, but how far away is it from (un)reality? That said, I may only be able to wait a few months... Curiosity will get the better of me

wait for PCI-express. Then start buying stuff.

I'm due a total upgrade next summer. Practically everything in this baby is creaking.

hmm i don't see the what the buzz is about this pci express i thought tomshardware did a good article for once on why it isn't needed by comparing the difference between 8xAGP and 4XAGP benchmarks which was very little.

however with the step forward taken by nvidia today perhaps the bandwidth is needed....

Well, if you wait for PCI-Express, you are future proofing to a certain degree, and by the looks of it, things are gonna start needing buckets of bandwidth within a year or two.

On a video i saw of this, it was mentioned that one character that was being rendered contained more polygons than a whole map from unreal 1.
