The Cartel Triples or Cartel Xperts seem decent enough... I cant seem to find my ACEs anywhere, they were shooting weak anyway so Im thinking a set of 12 built Cartel Triples still comes out around a 100eur cheaper than 12 built ACEs.

    Do not get these..
They are great for compound but can be very hard to tune for recurve..

While you're at it Ewan, you may as well mention the 5th World University Archery Championship which are on this summer in Madrid. According to the website we (Ireland) were invited not that the IAAA said anything to us about it.
Anyway, closing date for entries was the 21st of January so its a bit late to be worrying about it now. Still, its a target for next year (not that I would have made any team this year), especially with it being the final year of actual college for some of this years best and brightest - Noel, Ewan, Keith. Ciaran, Paul Burke (there's an age restriction on these events) and Mikhail would probably be ineligible next year .

Its another good reason to try and get as many IVs in before Christmas next year.

i'd imagine that you'd also have to be an undergraduate?

Ah feck! Im probably going to be doing a postgrad / doctorate (so I will be hanging around IVs terrorising newbies until 2008 or so), but if I cant compete in the World IV that would suck big time....

i'm only guessing that its for undergads, otherwise there would be mainly old postgrads who have been terrorising intervarsities for years :P but i could be wrong

Definately not one of the best personally but I wouldn't have minded trying out for the University games.

I'm pretty sure it runs every 2 years though so that's even worse.

I hope to do postgrad too but nothing's certain at this stage.
Gotta get thru Final Year first. :dunno:

Well you're probably right about the two year thing- article 1.2a :

"Normally, the Universiades are organised every two (2) years,
    normally in the odd years."

But I don't think they discriminate against postgrads. According to article 5.2.1a -

"students who are officially registered for and pursuing a full time
course of study at a university or similar institute whose status as a
university is recognised by the appropriate national academic
    authority of their country;"

are eligible and there's even allowance for a grace year according to article 5.2.1b -

"former students of the institutions mentioned in a) who have
obtained their academic degree or diploma in the year preceding
    the event."

are also eligible. However, if you finish this year, chances are there will be none next year and you might have missed out. Unless of course you hang on in college for another year. Be warned though, there is an age restriction. Article 5.2.3 states that -

"All competitors must satisfy the following conditions :
    a) be a national of the country they represent;
    b) be at least 17 and less than 28 years of age on January 1st in the
    year of the event;"

If any body's interested, this all came from here.
The events are run by the FISU, an international university sports body. They in turn invite national university sports bodies to send a team (ours is CUSAI ). I checked the CUSAI website. They have contact details for Paul Burke and Maynooth Archery Club. Is there a communications breakdown or am I just out of the loop??

I think Paul's supposed to be our rep.

We've a mailing list, proper one that we in DCU set up last year.

This very much needs to be taken advantage of.

Clubs should register their club e-mail address and not just the address of current committee people etc.

As far as I remember only ourselves, Maynooth and UL registered. Maybe UCD did also.

    Mailing List Page

This should be made to be the official mailing list. It saves people trying to work out who's job it is this year and so forth.

Mail would be sent to simply archeryclubs@lists.redbrick.dcu.ie and everyone who's signed up receives it.
