Any desktop PCs or laptops we have gotten off them for the past while have not been partitioned

At a guess it will probably be one large NTFS partition.

Dell did format multiple partitions on some of the old Win98 Celeron/PIII Dimensions, but anything we've received in the last year has been single partition. If I remember correctly Dell will pre-configure PC's (including partitions) to your requirements, but they'll also charge for doing so.

If the hard drive is not partitioned do you know if you can order them with 2 hard drives? I can't seem to see an option for adding an additional hard drive on their website.

That was probably because of file system limitations. Dell would have shipped FAT16 filesystems with multiple 2.1Gb partitions and FAT32 machines with 32Gb as a max partition size. NTFS doesn't impose those limitations.

You could just resize the partition with Partition Magic or a similar repartitioning tool.

Yes you can, but only on the dimension 8300 and with RAID of your choice

Exactly, or even better: just wipe the drive, partition it and reinstall the OS. Gets rid of all the sh1ite you don't need as well :)
