I've read that The Den now has it's own listing on the NTL EPG.

Cam anyone explain what this means (I don't have NTL Digital) ?

Is any of the programming different or are the transmission times longer ?

Do the programmes still appear on the Network 2 channel, or is it just doubled up on the the channel for The Den ?

I also wonder if RTE intend to put an EPG channel on Sky Digital fro The Den (although that's a subject that should be dealt with on the Satellite forum).

    Thanks.

Channel 601: RTE N2 THE DEN

It's the exact same as the transmission on Network 2 and the channel closes when the Den is finished.

Yes its the same as network 2 but when the den is on it is also listed in front of all the kids channels.I think the idea is to stop kinds turning their back on network 2 in favor of the digital kids channels I think its a good idea.

    Thanks guys.

I agree that it's not a bad idea t all.

I wonder how much it would take for RTE to restart the programming when The Den closes down. That way they'd have their very own children's channel.

Of course they'd probably have to pay extra fees to the programme makers for the extra broadcasts .....

the den is an absolutely stupid waste of bandwidth and space!!! but as far as i know, rte is to go on dtv free to air in dublin (sunday times, yesterday) which means that rte will have lots of bandwidth. maybe when rte goes digital , they will launch the den on its very own channel - similar to cbbc and cbeebies in the uk. It is also rumoured that they will launch a documentary channel, 24 hour news channel (that would be good) and a music station (to compete with mtv etc.)

They are to start handing out boxes FOR FREE shortly (dublin only - operating from three rock mountain and kippure) - wouldn't mind trying it meself

My guess is they just launched on NTL 601 to "hog" the channel number as Cartoon Network was the obvious channel which would get that channel number (and they launched recently on NTL but are now down the end of the Kids section...)
