Graphics problem (overheating?)

Hi, I recently put together a system using an Abit is7, 256mb pc3200 ram and a 2.4 p4 cpu. I stuck in a geforce 4 ti4200 card which had been working fine in another system and its all connected to a generic codegen 300w psu.
The problem is that the graphics card becomes very hot when idle, and while running a game the screen becomes completely corrupted after about 10min. Its as if the card is being overclocked but it is at stock speeds and the cooler is running fine. I think the graphics card can be ruled out as I tried another card in it became unusually hot as well, while not actually stopping up.
I'm not sure if this could be a problem but I'm running the processor at 100x12 because I dont have a decent cooler at the moment...maybe agp bus is messed up?

I've had a look on google but haven't found any real answers, does anyone here have any experience with this problem, or have any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Is it a Gainward?
    If so, google for:
    Gainward Pink screen of death

    Hey,
sorry if this is completely insulting your intelligence but, have you tried flahing the motherboard's BIOS?

Wow, thats the first I've heard of that. Its gainward alright. Thanks Sir Random.
But this card had been working perfectly until I put it in this new system, why would the problem appear now if its been there the whole time? The symptoms certainly sound familiar...
Dregin-x I'll try that now, thanks. My intelligence will be ok don't worry.

From what I understand the problem just occurs suddenly rendering the card useless... I hope gainward will rma it, it was bought in July 2002 from overclockers.co.uk. Should I get onto them or Gainward?

It is odd though, that it only started happening when you moved the card. Does the new system have decent case cooling? Don't leave the side of the case off, and make sure you have at least an 80mm exhaust fan at the back, in addition to the one in the psu, and if possible an intake at the bottom of the front of the case.
But if it is just the pink screen of death problem there is nothing you can do but rma.

The rma process is likely to take ages, in the meantime I'll try to cool the card. But as I said the stock cooling had been working perfectly until it was put into this motherboard.

I had a similar experience putting a Gainward ti4200 in an Abit IS7/2.4/PC3200 (co-incidentally :)). It had worked fine in a lower spec'd PC for months but the PSOD appeared when I installed it in the P4 rig. I actually bought it on here, and returned it.

That must be it so, but returning may be a bit difficult since I got mine from here too.
