hi guys. we have a panasonic digibox approx 2yrs old. signal quality and strength are about 85-90%. Recently some channels (E4 and E4+1 particularly) have become very distorted. I thought maybe the signal strength (or quality) was the problem but i have since been in two houses where the signal str+qual were significantly lower (50-60%) and they have no distortion. any ideas what our problem could be???

Check that the scart cable is properly inserted.make sure to plug out the receiver before you start pulling at it.

Check the signal strength for this particular transponder,(TP D6S-S1), which carries E4 (Ireland), E4+1, The three Film4 Channels, PCNE, and Bloomberg.

    Services,4,01,Select,05(ManualTuning),11.565, V,27.5,2/3, Find Channels.

Check the signal levels and compare to the default transponder (which is the one displayed on the normal services menu).

If it is significantlly lower then your dish may be just very slightly out of line.

By distorted, I presume you mean breaking up and pixelating into small squares?

Finally, bring the entire digibox to another house and hook it up, if there is no problem, then your Dish is definitely at fault. To be double sure, bring a digibox from another house and try it on your dish.

If all that fails, some electricial equipment such as heating thermostats may be interfering with your reception.

When my Digi box started giving trouble it was on E4 and the fashion channel 220 when I rang sky they told me it could be the dish out of alignment but as it turned out it was the tuner was slowly packing in.

Good idea to check the box with another dish and that will tell you if its the box or your dish alignment
