I don't know. I think it's a good idea. The further and quicker we get away from *Boxes* the better.

I can see your living room having something like a lamp which is in fact a PC. Have wireless network, input devices and your laughing.

Here's the next machine I'm going to get (assuming price stays the same).

It's a great idea, it's time the P.C. became a little bit more astethically pleasing.

Think it's priced at $2K. Which is pretty cheap for what it does. It was shown at CeBit.

i read an article about the crusoe, id say with Transmeta and AMD now in the market Intel are gonna become a smaller players

Transmetas Crusoe is a chip designed for low power consumption, therefore making it ideal for handhelds and other small embedded system devices (and thats the market at whcih it is squarely aimed).
Its in no way a direct competitor with AMD.
As for Intel they on the other hand make a LOT more than just processors so "gonna become small players"? not too likely in the next 5-10 years unless some hairy hippy figures out quantum computing smile.gif

nice machine Hobbes, I've read up a lot about development work on similar sized tablets, however this looks one of the nicest... site is desperately devoid of any specifications though..

"Think it's priced at $2K. Which is pretty cheap for what it does. It was shown at CeBit"

    what exactly does it do?
have any more information on it?
just curious as to the following points..

infra-red connection to a standard workstation? what speeds? internet access possible? (would be an excellent selling point for home as opposed to office use).. would love to see a proper tablet/notebook based www-browser working properly.
what type of display? for tablets you need a very good display as glare and viewing angles are the main problems.
memory size? any non-volatile storage? pcmcia? flash? battery life? what OS and applications available?

    cheers smile.gif
