They tend to be at the expensive end of the 250cc market...
So don't expect to pick one up for cheap..

I remember hearing very positive feedback about them some time ago..

    Not much use, I know!

Yes, I am the proud owner of a Hornet, since January.

Lovely bike. Keeping in mind that it is *only* a 250, and it's all relative:

It has great accelleration, and a very decent top speed - Approx 110mph (enough for an unfaired bike!).

    plus points:

Strong engine - comes from the CBR250.
Nice looks, if you like naked bike style.
Solid, planted feel, due to chassis and large fireblade tyres.
    Honda build quality.
    Revs to 16,000 redline.
    Decent enough pillion seat, grabrail.
Good seating position for town\twisty roads riding.

    Minus points:

    About 4,000+ for a late model: 1999 - 2000.
    Insurance is grp 5.
Not strictly legal for a learner (40hp stock), though some have restriction kit fitted.
Tyres are expensive - Approx 300.
Its an import, so your freindly local honda dealer might not service it or have parts (however, I had no problems).

Really though, it looks the ****, and it is one of the best choices for the very limited 250 market in ireland. Highly recommended, but I am biased!

yeah whats the story with that? theres shag all options if youre on the lookout for a 250, i know the cb 250's are reliable but they just look boring as hell (no offence intended to any cb owners out there)

The gap in the market for 250cc bikes is now being filled with restricted large bikes, eg Hornet900-600 CBR600 and Bandit 600 ( group 5 insurance for the most part) to name a few all at 33bhp, only prob is very rare second hand.
