Hi guys. Back from Plymouth. Got to dive HMS Scylla. High point. Did not like the Inspiration at all. Nothing I could put my finger on, but did not feel comfortable diving it. So I pulled out of course. Kevin Darling on the other hand ,is now the happy owner of an Inspiration and loves it. Going back July for ERD and Trimix Instructor coures. Its OC for me with the big gas bills :-(

Was it the CCR in general or just the inspiration that you didn't take to?

The unit felt very alien. Jan is probably right about the newbie bit. Kevin on the other hand felt aok. Maybe it was the clutter around the chest area. Its OC for me :D

Just been looking at rebreathers in the last week or so as i'm considering the course for the end of the summer - the kiss rebreather has a rear mounted Counter Lung which appeals to me as it would mean no clutter around the chest are that you described

I agree that the counterlung on the Inspiration looks rather bulky and i likes my space for connecting kit... i mean if you doing big dives you're carrying 1/2 of everything... light/reel/2 stages (at least!) etc etc - so space would be a bit of a premium.

The only problem with the kiss rebreather is (i read somewhere) that there is a max run time of about 2 hours on it... any further comments on that?

The Inspiration has a max recommended dive time of 180 mins for a single dive/exposure.Scrubber unit good for 4 hrs at a specific temp/depth. I`m sure the KISS could be ordered with a larger scrubber unit? And just to further muddy the waters www.stde.ch ....

The scrubber unit on the KISS is rated to 3 hours with a scrubber capacity of 2.7kgs of sofnolime.. i think there are different grades of sofnolime but i'm not sure what they are all about. All things considered 2 hours in water is more than enough for me... the cold and needing the toilet will drive me out of the water before my scrubber would...
