    Hey,

I've noticed that this topic is broght up a lot, but never anything is done about it, so I've started this e-mailathon to channel4 and E4 hoping they do the following:

-Put interactive services on E4 in ROI!
-Put Channel4 on the Irish EPG

You can email E4 and Channel4 by doing the following:

Go to http://www.channel4.com/contact_us.html#viewerenqs , click on the link that says'Enquiry Form' and copy and paste the following letter(Or, if you want, write your own):

    Dear sir or madam,
I’m a member of the Boards.ie message boards and not only me, but many other hundreds of the users are not happy with the lack of Interactive services on E4 and the non-availability of Channel4 on the Irish EPG of Sky Digital. We pay up to €60 per month for Sky, but while we have E4, why not Channel4? Why not let us be able to interact on E4 programming? This truly baffles us, including me. Please resolve the following things:

    • Put Channel4 on the Republic of Ireland EPG of Sky Digital
    • Activate interactive services on E4 in the Republic of Ireland.

    Yours faithfully,

    (Enter your name here)

REMEMBER: Please enter your name above and don't forget to put it in!

    LET'S HOPE THIS DOES SOMETHING!

um, I wouldnt put in that bit about boards.ie, its not as if this would be endorsed by Cloudie, DeV and the rest of the admins. Or ICDG for that matter.

Heres hoping you get a positive responce.

e-mailing or even worse putting comments in online feedback forms to companies like Channel 4 is a complete waste of time. In the case of C4 specifically I have experience of this being true, they pay little attention to telephone calls that they have to log, internet based complaints are most likely binned at source.
As you are Irish you have no standing with them anyway, their official line is that they broadcast to the UK only.
The only weak point I can see is through advertisers. C4 and E4 aim advertising directly at ROI both on e4 satellite/cable and on C4 through Ulster region terestrial adverts. They are very well aware of their very large market penetration in ROI and are more than willing to court advertisers for this market.
If you want any chance of getting to them I suggest a letter writing campaign to both Channel 4 and companies who advertise on c4 expressing your unhappiness of their policy of selling to you while discriminating against you with their services.

Just on reading this thread, heres a reply i got from c4, i'd love to know a bit more about these 'technical limitations'.....I didn't bother mentioning i get all the uk terrestrial channels from south coast tv for €65 year :p

    Dear Mr XXXXXXXX

Thank you for your e-mail regarding interactive services on E4 in the Republic of Ireland. We are unable to provide this service due to technical limitations.

    Regards

    RESPONSE REQUIRED

XXXXX has sent this you this email:
09.04.04 sky c4/e4 interactive in ireland Dear Sir/Madam,

I'm living in ireland and watch e4 on sky regularly. I've noticed that e4 in ireland tagerts irish viewers with irish adverts rather than the uk adverts. Bearing this in mind i'm wondering why you don't give irish viewers the interactive features also.

Also, you include c4 on various cable companies here in ireland, but not on sky. Why is this? And is there a possiblity you will in the future? (think of the ad revenue!)

    Thanks for reading,

    Looking forward to your reply,

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, e4 viewer.
