Off to Edinburgh for a 3 night break with the g.f. Was just wondering can anyone recommend a decent place to stay that will be fairly city center as walking will be our main mode of transport.
Was looking up the Royal British and aside from the name(;) ) it looked fine, dead city center etc..until i did a search for reviews of the place and turns out its a kip!

willing to spend up to around 350-400 for the 3 nights.
    Cheers!

i stayed in the allison house hotel...its about a 40 minute walk or less than 10 minutes on the bus (there's a stop right outside it...they come every couple of minutes) nice place very reasonable. but you may be looking for somewhere nearer.

buggering hell! every single hotel except 1 on needahotel.com or anywhere else i looked for edinburgh was booked out! :( was really surprised that they'd all be gone for a mid week break in april...
the only one available was the Express Holiday Waterfron Inn in Leith, a 10-15min bus ride from the city center....knutz.
had to take it. on the plus side the rooms look nice (as much as ye can tell from the website) and it got an average of 4.5\5 on www.tripadvisor.com (only 4 reviews tho...)

Roxburghe Hotel , Stayed there Since Christmas. Beautiful Hotel. We Got it from the Last Minute Accomodation Setion on the VisitScotland.com web site. Got a Great deal the 3 nights averaged £57 per night. It was smack bang in the middle of the City. Near Waverly Station and close to the route the bus link to the city. 1 minute round the corner you could see the castle & just off rose street where there are a lot of bars and restaurants. Heard the Point Hotel was Good. Friends Stayed There.
