Siemens St55 - Some Advice!!!

    Well all.

Just a quick word in your eye, if you're thinking about the Siemens ST55 as a new phone.

I bought one off a friend who owns a phone shop. It's absolutely crap! A Siemens baby for years, (since about 1999), I've always stood by Siemens throughout their turbulent attemts at releasing phones to compete with market leaders. On this occasion however, the germans made a boo boo! The phone's build quality is excellent, and the integrated camera could be argued to be very good (it includes a 4x digital zoom and can take photos of up to 640x480!), but there's nothing you can do with the pics when they're taken. No connectivity options exist! It doesn't have IrDA, Bluetooth or a data cable! An, as usual, our nation's best network fails to support the ST55 and thus, GPRS or MMS is currently unavailable. The SMS function is also not without its problems... Spelling words is impossible, as letters appear as boxes- not characters! The joystick is too recessed - so it's difficult to get a grip of. The phone really has no purpose. Can't send MMSs, SMSs (if you want to use T9) and you can't download or upload ringtones!

My advice, as an eager Siemens baby, is DON'T BUY IT! Fair enough, it's hard enough to come by, but sometimes that's the reason people buy phones (myself included). Don't buy this phone. Wait until the S65 in autumn.

    Just some advice.
