I didn't see this posted elsewhere, but this news is up on IMDB.com today:

Tarantino To Make 'Kill Bill' Animation

Maverick director Quentin Tarantino is planning an animated prequel to his Kill Bill movies - to show the early life of the deadly assassin. The film will be drawn in the Japanese manga style already seen in Kill Bill Volume 1 and will focus on the three men - pimp Estebian Vihaio and martial arts masters Hattori Hanzo and Pei Mai - who turned Bill into a ruthless killer. The Oscar-winning writer and director will write and produce the film. Tarantino has also speculated that he could return to Kill Bill's world in 15 years time to follow the daughter of a character killed in the first film. The popular filmmaker - who took five years off after directing Jackie Brown to return to the screen with the violent revenge saga - is next set to direct a segment of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's comic book adaptation Sin City.

I don't see why he has to wait 15 years to direct the sequel. Its not like he's going to use the same actress who played the child. And Uma won't be nearly so fit in 15 years.

what makes you so certain that uma's character survives volume 2?

I read elsewhere that the speculated "15 years later" sequel would be about Vernita Green's daughter finding the bride to get revenge... Damn contradictory spoilers...

It's quite a long time since I've seen the first but wasn't there animation in it?

As such I'd not see it as "jumping on the bandwagon" and animatrixesque. I'd assume he's gonna stick with the same style as in Kill Bill 1 and it'd be just the one story with one style versus so many different styles in the Animatrix.

I think a few people feel he jumped on the bandwagon when he put the anime in the first film.

Quentin Tarantino Talks More Kill Bill Vol. 3 Source: Entertainment Weekly Friday, April 9, 2004

While Kill Bill Vol. 2 doesn't hit theaters until next Friday, writer and director Quentin Tarantino has talked even more about a third film.

"Oh yeah, initially I was thinking this would be my 'Dollars' trilogy. I was going to do a new one every 10 years. But I need at least 15 years before I do this again," he tells Entertainment Weekly.

"The star will be Vernita Green's (Vivica A. Fox's) daughter, Nikki (Ambrosia Kelley)," he adds. "I've already got the whole mythology: Sofie Fatale (Julie Dreyfus) will get all of Bill's money. She'll raise Nikki, who'll take on The Bride."

"Nikki deserves her revenge every bit as much as The Bride deserved hers. I might even shoot a couple of scenes for it now so I can get the actresses while they're this age."

Tbh that's sounds kind of crappy.
And are we really going to give a shit in 15 years time?

I thought the animation part in kill bill was just stupid i thought, i really dono why he put it in the film, the third sequel sounds just ridiculous, might as well bring out the Star wars 7 about hans solo's lost son, stupid.

I think Tarantino always had Manga fanboy sensibilities, but the success of the Animatrix certainly made it easier for him to include the segment...
