Sony do MP3 players as part of the Xplode range. Try your local sony site.

www.cel-direct.co.uk or cel-direct.com - not sure of the domain. I saved over 300 euros by buying from them.

I'd be interested in a hard-disk based stereo myself so any info / links would be appreciated.

Hard drive based mp3 car stereos start at something like €2000.00 for a 5-10 gig one.

Wheras you can get a cd based one for €300.00+vat.I use an cd one and really cant see the fuss with the hard drive based ones. You have to keep removing it and replacing it in your car every time you want to upload more tracks to it.The cd one is excellent---roughly 140 tracks on one 700mb cd assuming 5mb per track.Fecking excellent.

I bought my JVC KDSH909RB from the site above. Would highly recommend the site and the JVC MP3 player.

Hard drive ones are much too expensive. CD ones will be fine

I'd prefer to buy off a irish website if at all possible

I have a hard-drive based one in my car. Cost about €500, has 120Gb.
    Have a look on http://www.dension.com/
I got mine imported from Hungary, and even had to pay customs, and it still only came to €500 including hard drive (hard drive purchaced seperatly from Komplett.ie).

    Try this place...

    http://www.besecure2000.com

I've bought a few bits and pieces off this place (subs, alarm, facia adaptors etc). They know their stuff, and they're Ireland based. Never had any problems, and they're very helpful. Just drop them a mail if you've any questions.

    Here's the car audio section...

    Hope this helps,

In my stereo, you just take out the stero, remove the hard-drive (very easy procedure), and then just put it into your computer as another normal IDE hard-drive. Transfer anything you want on to it, customise the buton functions, put your own logos's on or change the display when tracks are playing. When its all set up put it back in your car and its ready to go.
I only have mine half-full and there are about 1000 CD's on it.

You got the DH-101? So basically there is a mounting for the hard drive in there. 3.5" or 2.5" Hard drive.

What was delivery and stuff like from this place?
Is there any skipping from it on bad roads and stuff like that?

I've actually got the DMP3-A (the external one that hooks up to your existing stereo) and I'm using it with a Sony head unit.
Its a 3.5" hard drive in mine.
Delivery was fine, took about 2 weeks I think.
No, as long as the MP3's are encoded OK, it works fine.

Another handy thing is that it somes with a adapter so you can connect it to the mains in your house and use it as a stand-alone stereo in your house. Great for party's.

    city or country?
i guess it'd be safe enough for city driving, wouldn't want to risk using one on the roads around where i live though.

I spend alot of my time on country roads. My parents house is in the middle of nowhere and I go there most weekends. So lots of small, ****y roads, with vast collections of potholes. My parents live on a farm so you can imagine how bad some of those roads are. Also my car is lowered 40mm so it is rougher than most cars to drive (although the handling is great!!). And, like I said, I've never had a problem with it. There are screws to keep the drive firmly in place so it dosen't get damaged.

Hard Drives arent designed to withstand vibrations that you have in your car. The Laptops ones do to a degree but the MTBF will be reduced will all that bouncing around

Yes, I know. But what I'm saying is that I've never had a problem with it.
I do integrity tests on the drive every time I update it and its still fine.

There is not much point in having a hard drive one, mp3 cd's work great. Try all the US sites as you can get some amazing deals. I bought a Sony CDX-MP70 from Ebay last year. I paid €375 including postage for it, and it was €800 in the shops over here... Only thing you've got to look out for is the differences in the radio frequencies from here to the US.

http://www.besecure2000.com is your nest bet, also try Alarming Sounds or Hi-Way Hi Fi, but you will still get a much better deal form the US - and still get all the stations.
