    Hey,
Im looking to buy a 17" TFT display, around the €400 mark. The cheapest i can find is Jes-Computer, I've got a few in mind:
E-Yama 17jn1 - €372.60 - Great price, but im a little concerned about the 25ms response rate and i don't really recognise the brand.
Fujitsu Siemens C17-3 - €429 - better respose rate (14ms), although the brightness is only 350cd/m^2. I think im leaning towards this one.
Samsung SyncMaster 172N - €413.49 - again, 25ms response time, but a more recognised brand.
Any advice on what i should go for? And, is DVI much better than analougue interface?
    Thanks in advance

Personally, id spend the extra few €'s if your gona be using it for games / graphics etc....

Here are a few good ones

I recommend (From personal experence) the LG 1710B & ViewSonic VP171 S / B --> there the same just different colours.

DSUB Vrs DVI --> DVI is way, WAY better that Analog much clearer crisper picture.

    Thanks joePC

Thanks joePC - the ViewSonic does look great, but €532.40 +p&p is about €100 over my budget, €510.93 for the LG (incl p&p) is slightly more affordable, but i dont know if its worth it. I'm really trying to stick around the €400 - €430 mark, but I dont have the space for a CRT. The shipping on overclockers is a total rip off though.

    Hey,
If anybody else is in the market for a TFT, Amazon have some great prices - usually just £10-£20 cheaper than OcUK, *but* they wont screw you on shipping. For example, theViewSonic 17" LCD Monitor VP171B is £359.98, versus OcUKs £391.51, both excluding shipping. Bot still way out of my price range, but could be handy for somebody else.

Edit: Amazon charge a very reasonable £6.98 for postage, while OcUK charge £20. The only problem being that Amazon take 4-6 weeks to dispatch ViewSonic displays, although the LGs are just as good value and are dispatched within 24 hours.

Get a DVI model if at all possible.

Lower response time is obviously better but sometimes too much emphasis is placed on it. TFT monitors vary greatly in terms of image quality and contrast ratio. Some poorer models aren't able to natively show as many colours as others and rely on interpolation.

In my opinion the most important thing to do if you are buying a TFT is to spend some time reading plenty of reviews.

I have the viewsonic and the lg models you refer to there. The viewsonic is better. Better colours and better at dvds and games. Amazon dont actually take that long. You will be surprised. That changes every 24 hours.

So I just ordered the Viewsonic from Amazon, thinking i was getting it for £359, with an expected delivery date of May 11th. The i notice that theyre trying to charge me 21% VAT instead of the UK 17.5%. Now im thinking I'll just order from Overclockers, get the silver one instead of the black one, and pay the same price, have it by next week. Assuming they dont go trying to charge me 21%...
