Stephen Malkmus - Didn't he used to be with Pavement?
Cat Power - I've got her album 'You Are Free' and love it but it's tough listen. She played in Whelans last year and was apparently worse for wear.
Explosions in the Sky - A lot like 'Godspeed....' and Mogwai. Their album 'The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place' is really good. Wouldn't mind seeing these guys but it they're only given 45 mins then they'll only have time to play 2 songs! ;)

    Sounds like an interesting line-up.

I wanted to go but you need to go in groups of 4 isn't it ? I'll go next year I think.

may i just say you definitely chose the right weekend.. the first didnt have a patch on this.

Arab Strap - amazing, Scottish indie band, musings about alcohol, sex and more sex... don't miss.
Explosions in The Sky.. one of the best gigs I've been to this year was them in the Hub last month.. DO NOT MISS if you like your post-rock (and even then DO NOT MISS).
Nina Nastasia.. singer/songwriter.. fairly average, but could put on a great show, her recent album was a bit dead but older stuff is topnotch as far as that genre goes (if you're into it).
Modest Mouse .. very good emo band.. again I wouldn't miss them if possible...
Deerhoof .. MAD. aboslutely mad stuff.. crazy japanese girl does vocals.. stop start mad outthere rock. definitely would be fun.
    Le Tigre .. feminist (read:girly) pop/indie band .. meh :)
Bardo Pond .. minimalist (instrumentation wise, but very loud at times) depressing post-rock, I absolutely adore them on cd, but having never seen them live I couldn't say.. if you're feeling the need to just stand and listen then head along... they won't be rocking thats for sure.

What can I say. What a weekend. Some great bands there and you can dance all nite then afterwards. Of the bands I saw.

Sonic Youth: The reason I went. Didn't dissapoint. Right up the front, with only about 1500 people there. Met them in the bar later and Kim Deal was a c*nt. The rest were good crack

Arab Strap: Never heard of them b4. Met 3 of them on Friday night and ended up partying with them most the weekend. Went along to see them for the laugh, but they were unreal. The cello and violin really add to them. 2 of the girls I was with ended up with 2 of them as well.

Bardo Pond: Every song sounded the same.

    Nina Nastacia: Woeful tripe.

    Steve Malkumus: Not my thing

    ESG and Enon: Pretty good

    LCD Soundsystem: Excellent

    The Notwist: Excellent

Jackie-O Mother****er: The worst cack I have ever heard or seen. 7 idiots wailing and moaning and trying to make sounds by rubbing a stick on a frisbee type stuff.

Justin Spears DJ; A child could do better with one turntable only

That's Kim Gordon you're talking about. Kim Deal is a member of The Pixies/The Breeders.
