What are RTE playing at. They put it on at 3am and so the video recorder is set but every time I do it, they must start earlier because I get the tail end of one episode and the second episode. Don't know what series they are on but it is just excellent and funnier than earlier series.

Why do they buy in these excellent programs and put them out at ridiculous hours and then change the times they show them at so you can't even record them

I sent press@rte.ie an email, maybe if enough sent in an email they might actually do something.

pigs might fly but it's worth a try.

What I always do when taping anything on an RTE channel is to set the video for 15 minutes before the programme is scheduled to start and for 15 minutes afterwards. It's the only way.

B*stards! My Sky+ box started recording at 3.55 a.m. and got an hour of the test card. This is the second tine this happened not to mention them always starting it early.

They do the same thing with Drew Carey as well. Why can't they show these shows are more social hours instead of some of the cr*p they show like that Bow Wow rubbish?

    The Responce
    ___________________________________________________________________

Apologies for the delay in responding to your email. We moved The Practice
to a later slot on N2 on Thursday nights for one very simple reason. It's
popularity had considerably waned and it was no longer delivering big enough
audiences to justify a peak time slot on RTE One. We tried it on Saturdays
on N2 at 2100 where it again performed very poorly, hence our decision to
move it to a late night slot on Thursdays.

We have a number of competitive hour long documentary slots on N2 at 2000
both at the weekend and during the week. Some of these slots perform very
well and do provide a real alternative to the soaps on RTE One. I take your
point about breaking movies with News bulletins, it does annoy some people
and we are looking at the situation.

Many thanks for taking the time to write to RTE.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Andrew Fitzpatrick,
    Head of Scheduling,
    RTE Television.

    Email andrew.fitzpatrick@rte.ie

I dont usually do this but nothing has been done to improve the situation.

Also I feel that it is good that RTE did make the big bow wow, It unfortunately was a terrible show. But as far as there Irish output goes it is a step in the right direction.

RTE are a bunch is **** and have never and will never do anything right. Could the reasion the Practice popularity had considerably waned was due to the above mentioned **** bouncing the show all over the N2 timeslot?

RTE are showing the last episode of last season's '70s show on Sunday night. It was obviously too much to hope that they would start showing the current season. Instead they are are repeating That '80s Show.

That '80s show makes the Bow Wow look good. It was cancelled after 13 shows so why do RTE have to show it again?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,027 ✭✭✭alleepally

Happily, I received a reply from RTE on that 70's show question.

"Thank you for your e-mail which I have forwarded to the Head of Programme
    Scheduling, for his attention.
I have logged your comments here and they will be included in our weekly log,
which forms part of the agenda for discussion at our weekly editorial meeting."

This wasn't an autoreply but was actually from an individual. So at least someone has read it and I expect there will be a further response.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 223 ✭✭mob

i was looking at the listings today and only one ep of that 70's show is on and

    wait for it.......

that 80's show is on after it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,641 ✭✭✭✭Elmo

that 80's show is on after it.

Yeah it's a really bad comedy series I think that they had it on before and finished the series off in prime time. 13 episodes maybe?

What happened Grounded for Life, didn't the WB take it up after FOX axed it in the states.

This Andrew was never working in TV3 and there was never a head of scheduling in TV3 called Andrew Fitzpatrick.

a while back i tried to record third rock from the sun at 3am or whatever, got about half of the show
i know i could set it to record for a few hours to get it, but bollocks to that, i couldn't be bothered wading through it and i've got other stuff on the vhs

obviously its rediculous to expect they could stick to their schedule

that 80s show has to be the worst tripe i have ever seen, do these fools even look at the **** they import
or do they think, oh its american, that'll do us

No I just got the impression that TV3's Scheduler got a job in RTE as their scheduler after all of the problems with the previous scheduler. But I must be mistake.

He's only in the job a few years now. since 2000?

Yeah, That 80's Show was pretty bad alright, but it deserves to be shown primetime just for the goth chick that was in it - man, she was hot!

..I'm not a goth, by the way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,156 ✭✭✭Zhane

it woulda been better if the 70's cast was carried over to 80's show. Just out of curiousity what year is the 70's show in?

I think it's from the mid to late 70s, if you look at the licence plate at the very end of the program they have the year in which the current episode is set.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 175 ✭✭mwnger

The first series was set in 1977, cos there was an episode were they all went to see Star Wars. Well I think it was the first series, could've been the second.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,199 ✭✭✭krattapopov

that 80s show was brutal, but i do have to admit to watching it for that goth chick and yer one that was in sweet valley high :D:D:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,714 ✭✭✭conZ

The first series of That 70's Show is set in 76', second in '77, series 3 in '77, series 4 in '78, series 5 in '78 also, and the current series 6 in '79.

Ahh the joy's of broadband and a steady download rate on that 70's show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,641 ✭✭✭✭Elmo

Just as long as it doesn't remain in the 70's for the next ten years

Heartbeat is now running how long and it still is set in the sixty whats with that?

Also if you look at the end credit the licence plate states the Year that the show is based.

Thankfully not many american TV shows last anymore then 5 years. Unlike ITV shows which run and run and run leaving no room for something new a different.

15 years and there still living in the Sixties in Heartbeat.

Ever see the ITV version of That 70s Show

i have them all... right up to the latest episode released in america(140+ shows in total).

the 7th series is definately the last. Its probably for the best too... Alot of series 6 isn't great.

As for that 80s show, i watched it only for the goth girl. Shes so very hot... even when dressed up like that.

Hmmm, looks like the Head Of Programming Scheduling has been out to lunch for the past week. I'm watching the Blues Brothers on Network 2. Supposed to be over at 02:45. Half three and there's still a good quarter hour in it. RTE seem to have found the extended version from 2001 (I missed the start but it has the gas station explosion so definitely the longer version) so there's an extra 15 minutes they might not have known about. No awards for getting their schedule an hour off though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,935 ✭✭✭eyerer

    hehe
i suffered through those episodes early in the morning, i forgot just how unfunny that thing was
the canned laughter was just too sad, who would really find that funny

the goth chick looked decent with her hair in a normal looking style
the blonds were good, even though they acted like gob****es

the guy on the mobile (brick) in the niteclub is soo annoying. they use that joke in every episode ffs!

that 80s show rely imho on way too much jokes about the 80s where thet 70s show is just funny, and could almost be set in any decade.
