Align Tag Problem

I've noticed a problem using successive align tags.

For instance if you use [align=left]xxx[/align] followed immediately by [align=right]yyy[/align] the first set of align tags stick in a carriage return/newline at the end, meaning the two sets of tags can't be on the same line.

The point of all this is that it makes some potenially interesting sigs look crap.

    Any way of fixing this?

I might be wrong, but I think it's a html limitation that you can't align one side of the line of text to one side and the other to another side.
And since the end result is html, there's not a lot BBcode can do about it.
