Hopefully this is appropriate for this Retro forum.

As an ex-Grove goer (Grove being the social club/disco) held
at St Paul's Raheny on Saturday/Sundays from 1967-1997
(my own tenure being around 1982-1984). I am looking for
    nostalgic playlist of that establishment.

I understand there is a Grove night held in Isaac Butts
on some Mondays but as a family man I've hardly the time
to get to it. I have recollected a large amount of the playlist
in my head and written it down. I just wondered if anyone
monitoring this forum might have also gone there and might
be able to add there memories of the playlist.
The genre of music was eclectic but dominated by 70's/80's
heavy metal and hard rock and later by New Wave stuff
of the 80's with the usual doses of Bowie, Dylan, etc.

If you have any memories just tag them to this thread and
if you have any details of the playlist feel free to PM me
with them. I am just amassing the list for my own
nostalgia trip and also to verify that my memory is
intact :)... as I've only about 25 years to go before I
    collect my pension !

board admin, feel free to move this thread if it is misplaced.
Although I think Grove equates to nostalgia/retro in my
    book!

i had the misfortune of being dragged to that Grove night a couple of months ago.... brought back horrible, horrible memories of getting dragged to the actual Grove twice in the late 80's (and it was a saturday night too, not a monday. what a waste)

    But anyways.

Make sure you have Peaches by the Stranglers and Spirit of Radio by Rush on your list. And AC/DC's Back In Black. Oh and Here I Go Again by Whitesnake, but that would have been after your time. As would Love Cats by The Cure, possibly, and Wonderwall by Oasis, definitely... maybe. Add to that some Cream, some Thin Lizzy... and I've blotted the rest from memory. Although maybe that was the alcohol, but basically we're talking any popular music that would have been considered slightly "alternative" (ahem) in its own era.

    Thanks Pete

I was never dragged to the Grove. Probably almost dragged out of it by the rather heavy handed door staff that were there in the early to mid 80's.

I've most of what you said on my own personal play list.
Obviously Cecil would be the fountain of all knowledge.
I can't remember any Cream tracks being played in my time
although I assume if they were it might have been White
Room or Sunshine of my Love. I remember Cocaine by
    Clapton, Layla, Lay down Sally.
I know that in the mid eighties the musical genres kind of
bifurcated into classic heavy rock with some American
    AOR/MOR rock (Foreigner,Toto, Boston, Kansas,etc) thrown
in with the other side being new wave genre such as
New Order,Joy Division, etc. What sparked my memory was
suddenly hearing a track called Hocus Pocus from an obscure
heavy rock outfit called Focus. I think the Grove was the
only venue where I ever heard that track being played.
It's a hoot of a track - I'm sure it might have inspired a group
like the Darkness to pen some of their fusion of glam/heavy
    rock!
