Beware Tesco 'special' offers

    Two weeks ago....(in Artaine Castle)
    2lt bottle 7up - 1.61euro
    2x2lt bottle 7up - 3.24 euro (er....2c more than buying non-'special' offer?)

    Today
    2lt bottle 7up - 1.85 euro

    12% mark-up in two weeks?....scum.

Having seen this, I then took a quick look at some of their other 'special' offers, and found the most special thing about them was that they were dearer than buying the 'normal' item.

Suggestion. Write to the manager of the store and send a copy to head office as well. Consumers have the power and if you don't point out price discrepancies nothing will happen

It's a fact (albeit unmentioned) that many stores up the prices of non-promo goods to make "Special offers" look like good value. As my mum says, I wish they'd just reduce the price instead of doing specials.

    It is what it's.

I emailed their customer service, but apart from an automated reply heard nothing. I also informed them I had posted on this forum (to give them a chance to respond), so either they couldn't care less, or don't actually check their email, in common with many companies in Ireland.

When we can post again I'll send a letter.

Fair play to you then newgrange. Good to see someone doing something positive.

Tesco Ireland are a complete ripoff.
I lived in London for a bit and the only similarity between Tesco UK and Tesco Ireland is the name.
    The price differences are huge.

i work in tesco and i see price fluctuations all the time, but most of the time they are genuinely decent offers (they do alot of 2 for the price of 1's etc) and right now in nutgrove haagen dazs is only 3.99(compared to almost 6euro everywhere else) but at the end of the day its a business out to make money, and you can choose to shop somewhere else. i personally think alot of the tesco own brand products are pretty decent, and its still way cheaper than shopping at yer local spar or something. you gotta be aware its a rip off to shop anywhere in ireland right now :)
