Stupidest Movie Character Names.

I was just reading a dvd review for that movie DOWN WITH LOVE and to my chagrin I notice that the name of the Ewan McGregor character was none other than 'Catcher Block' . Now I don't know about you but if I woke up one morning and realised my name was 'Catcher Block' I'd be seriously questioning my right to live on this planet.

While we're on the subject another name that I've always found rather dumb was 'Cotton Weary' From Scream 2. Makes me want to smash the face of the actor who played him every single time I've seen him since.

So, what is the stupidest movie character name YOU'VE ever heard? Please feel free to add your own personal 'favorites' to this list.

Can we include intentionally bad names?

Two that still make me and my mates laugh are "Dirk Diggler" and "Chest Rockwell" from Boogie Nights.

And what the hell sort of a name is Axel Foley???!

Keanu Reeves Character in "Point Break" was

    "Johnny Utah"

A really brutal "this guy is the coolest dude "name.
    It just makes me cringe.

With Plisken meaning Snake, his full translated name was 'Sanke Snake'

I was always of the mind that 'Snake' was more a nickname than his real name.

I thought calling the hero of the matrix "Neo" because he was 'the one' was pretty lame.

    Why not call him Hogsbite?

Nicholas Cage's character in Face/Off- Castor Troy. And his character in Gone in 60 seconds- Memphis Raines! Cole Trickle in Days if Thunder is another silly one.

Nicholas Cage seems to have a thing for characters with stupid names, no?

Most of the Star Wars characters have fairly stupid names.

Also although I think it's a great movie I have to question the name Donnie Darko.

btw, Axel Foley sounds familiar but I can't place it, what film is it from?

Most of the Star Wars' names are a bit stupid, but at least they're very inventive and intruiging names.

btw Arnie's name in Commando was John Matrix, just incase someone thought his first name was Matrix. Still a tad stoopid i guess, but class film so its forgiveable.

Hmm his daughter in said film was Alyssa Milano...didn't know that now.

He did indeed, even with that limp-wristed guy Serge calling him "Ack-well" :D

Gail Weathers is another pitiful example (Scream).

Gail Hailstorm was a fantastic name though (Scary Movie) ;)

Remember that stupid film Drive Me Crazy? It was out in 1999, and had Mellissa Joan Harte and Adrian Greiner in it. Anyway Adrain's character was called Chase Hammond. I mean who would ever call their kid Chase!

The film was called Erin Brockovich strangely enough. ;) She gets a job with a local law firm and finds herself helping the locals in their fight against a large industrial corporation poisoning the ground water and slowly killing off the locals.

(I think I used the word "local" too many times in that sentence :D )

Based on a true story IIRC, so maybe there really *is* an Erin Brockovich?
