TV Link problem

    Hi All,

I have my sky receiver downstairs and there is a cable then running up to the main bedroom. This is a new house and was pre wired through the walls. The TV link worked fine in my last house but does not here. Everything is doen regarding RF2 output etc.

When i plug the TV Link upstairs and connect to TV etc it will not change the channel. I receive the channel perfect adn the LED is on which indicated the 9V is there. When i move the TV link downstairs and run a short lead out of RF2 to the TV link I can change the channels no problem. It is defo the TV link changing the channel and not the box picking up the RF as i blocked up the box before trying.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Is the cable run to long? It's over 50 feet I would imagine? Surely if the voltage is there it should work?

    Thanks,
    osullima.

Is there a distribution amplifier anywhere in between the downstairs outlet and the upstairs outlet, to feed all the tv points in the house? I'm not 100% sure, but the signal required to change channels will not pass back through certain types of amplifier.........someone will clarify this:confused:

This is quiet a common problem . There are a number of things you can try .

Most new houses nowadays use isolated tv sockets , which do not allow voltage to pass thru them ( from digibox to extender ) I understand you have an led at extender end , but its worth a try . By pass the tv wall socket at both ends and see if it makes any difference .

Also sometimes a differnet brand of extender may solve the problem .

And finally replacing the cable may be the only answer.

Other option is a wireless remote control extender - a radio signal is sent from one receiver to another box - one thing to note - this can be used to control any devices - eg if both tellies or videos are the same brand you might be switching both together.

the TV link brand name units are dire - have had two die on me.

The "reverse" IR remote link on Video Senders is good too, and works with ANY device & its handset. Also gives you Stereo, which a RF cable on Digibox / VHS/ DVD can't ever.

For Audio only, a pair of RCA/Phono plug to 3.5mm mini-Jack stereo socket will feed the 32 Ohm "walkman" type headphones (with or without built in volume control on the cable, use the kind with an inline volume control). The video senders will still work also even if no video signal fed on them.

€50 to €15 depending on features from Argos, Occasionally Lidl and many High Street shops. Philips do one with multiple inputs. My Thomson and Lidl models are fine. Different brands will interwork and any number of receivers can pick up the same transmitter channel.

Try a different brand m8. This has happened me a few times. I find that the ones made by Global work the best with long distances of cable. The triax ones will only work up to about 40 feet from my experiences.

    Hope this helps....
