I LIVED for that programme! I have AT LEAST 100 of the My Little Ponies up in the attic from the 80's and early 90's.The new ones look like disabled donkeys.

The tv programme was legendary alright!

I had a collection of them too...my favourite one was the pony who was a pink colour - she had a "diamond" stuck in her head!? She came with pink nail polish & you could make her tail longer or shorter by twisting her head...

Needless to say, I twisted her head too much one day & her tail got sucked inside her

That can't be a healthy thing for a pony. My sister had rakes of them. The ponies bored me, but I liked their little dragon side-kicks...

I had loads of these too, I also had some sort of stable that was purple and white to put them in and a ballet school (which seems a bit pointless now as their legs couldn't move ) http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Baby_Bonnet_School_of_Dance

as a lifelong pony/horse lover, can quite honestly say had hated that cartoon first time around [and this time around to!]-sister loved it though and had all the figures, the quilt cover, the wallpaper etc eugh.
cant believe they have rehashed it again, they shoud be bringing back old classics without rehashing...like sharky and george, superted, the racoons, samurai pizza cats, the ewoks, animals of farthing wood,ox tales, jimbo the jetset, fireman sam, thomas the tank engine, knightmare, chatterhappy ponies, original transformers, thundercats etc- kiddies are totaly missing out on superb kids tv.

Went to see the "movie" in cinema... I think it was 1985? Had a grand collection of the original ponies but gave them all away, kicking myself since, some of them were worth money to collectors now. Though still wont forgive the Labrador who ate Spike, Majesty's dragon. She and the Dream Castle just seemed pointless without him!

A few years ago I found an orange "mountain boy" pony, Lightning, I have no idea how he survived the pony cull when I gave them all away, THEN avoided being accidentally thrown in the bin by my dad a few years later when I lost the few I had kept! Pity I'd given him a haircut at some point, pretty useless once they've had haircuts.

OMG you people must have been loaded!!!
I only had 2 My Little Ponies. The purple one, Blossom, I think and a pink one that came with a Grooming Parlour:

Although I also had a My Little Pony cuddly toy and a couple of years later, a Sea Horse.

Got memories of jumping over the back wall of my house over to the
neighbors where my friend had He-Man and Castle Greyskull and all the boy toys, and his spoiled little sister having My Little Ponies where she used to spend hours just platting the tails. There was a TV show at the time with a catchy theme tune with follow up TV advertisements for the toys.
(I keep hearing "my little Pony, plastic and phony" when it comes to the them tune :D ) from what I recall the Ponies like He-Man were kinda posh kids toys
where the richer folk had them with the average folks getting hand me downs.

Well we were definitely not posh kids, in fact we were broke but I had My Little Pony. If I can recall correctly, a pony was priced at £1.99 in the 80s and I remember getting about 50p pocket money a week so it wasn't that expensive.
I remember after school me and my best friend going into Dunnes and looking at all the My Little Ponys! We used to pick out our favourites and put them on our Santa lists!
