Which Spyware software is the best?

Which Spyware software is the best? I work in a college and have recently noticed Spyware creeping onto a few machines. I have dealt with this problem before on my own machine using Hijack This to delete any suspect (in my opinion) registry entries. I think we need a sticky on this subject as it’s becoming more commonplace. From reading some threads here on boards.ie I’ve drawn up the following list:

    Spybot Search & Destroy
    Ad-Aware
    SpywareBlaster
    Hijack This
    Spy Sweeper

I’ve installed Spybot Search&Destroy, Ad-Aware 6, SpywareBlaster and HijackThis on my machine in work. I’m still not convinced that all the spyware has been removed. I’ve run HijackThis after scanning for spyware using the other programs and there are still a few suspect entries in the registry, the big one being ClearSearch, which caused me no end of problems before Christmas. Also, what would be the best solution over a network? Opinions?

You would want to be careful with Hijack This. When you do a scan, some legitimate items appear in the list. A full delete could create problems with your regular software.

Adaware 6 seems to be keeping me clean quite effectively THB

The best spyware software is made by Cydoor and Gator.

I have used those the most.

You could also try Shop At Home Select.

Yeah, they make some pretty good spyware, as do Tracking Comet Cursor and Gamespy

If i run AdAware first there seems to be nothing left for the Spybot to clean - i think it's much more effective.

ban him!! and change his sig to something moderately humorous!

A combination always works best, if you have 2 adware removal tools installed, the odds of them both missing the same thing are very small.

i wonder if anyone got the moderately pun... moderator....

On the other hand if i run Spybot first there's always more stuff that Adaware detects, but never the other way around. They're supposed to complement each other, but i now rely on Adaware only.

(and will you guys give me a break about the avatar!:D )
