Software to draw a 'Spider diagram'

    I am looking for recommendations for software to collate ideas and associations between those ideas (like a "spider diagram").

    For example, you have your core topic in the centre of the map, then associations are drawn emanating from that topic. In turn, subassociations may emanate from those subtopics.

    Does anyone know of any software which facilitates the easy creation of these spider diagrams?

    Mindmap is one, but It costs.

    This could also be done using the Drawing element of Openoffice.

    i remember using a prog called rational rose for similar diags in college. your college might have it already installed but i doubt ud be buying it for home, id imagine its expensive.

    Microsoft Visio - I use it any time I need to draw flow charts or anything similar
