Jamaican reggae veteran and Massive Attack collaborator Horace Andy plays intimate new venue Crawdaddy on Easter weekend – with two shows on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of April. A fantastic vocalist, his songs are simple and well written while his voice is relaxing, soulful and silky smooth.

Born Horace Hinds in Kingston, Jamaica in 1951, he rechristened himself Horace Andy as a tribute to the equally legendary Bob Andy.

A distinguished and beloved Jamaican vocalists, Horace Andy is hailed proudly by locals as one of the most distinctive voices on the island. His emotive delivery just adds further weight to his reputation.

The song "Skylarking," orchestrated his rise from relative obscurity. It was placed on the Jamaica Today compilation and caused such a fevered reaction that he released it as a single, where it rocketed to the top of the Jamaican chart. From that point on, the hits rained down: "Love of a Woman," "Every Tongue Shall Tell" and the deeply devotional "Oh Lord Why Lord," amongst the number.

Of recent years his audience has widened, largely due to guest vocals on the albums of Bristols Massive Attack. The majority of these were unaware of Andy’s extensive preceeding career. This is particularly ironic, especially as several of Massive Attack's tracks were originally Andy's own. In later years Massive Attack were to launch their own label, Melankolic, and released Skylarking, a compilation of Andy's more difficult to find hits from across his long career.

Throughout his extensive songwriting career Andy has contributed many classic’s including "Seek and You Will Find". This is an album's worth of simmering rhythms and is widely hailed as one of the most crucial U.K. reggae albums of the decade. “In The Light” is an exceptional production with supple bass intertwining through the ever more claustrophobic atmospheres. Not to mention his acclaimed Living in a Flood album which hosts a remake of Massive Attack's Doldrums and a collaboration with Joe Strummer on the title track.
