    Dublin's Ambassador Theatre proudly presents
    BEENIE MAN - June 23rd '04
Tickets on-sale this Monday, March 29th.

Currently riding high in the charts with his ‘Dude’ single (feat. Ms. Thing), one of reggae’s most crucial artists,

BEENIE MAN has just announced an exclusive Irish date for Dublin’s Ambassador Theatre on June 23rd ’04.

With over 50 Jamaican No.1's, Beenie Man is dancehall's most consistent and persistent performer.

From Waterhouse, Kingston, Jamaica, Beenie (Jamaican for little) released his first single at the age of 7 and has been burning up the dance halls ever since.

Having come from a family where music was already in the blood (his uncle played drums for Jimmy Cliff), Beenie Man teamed up with the legendary Bunny Lee when he was just eight years old.

By the time he was 9, he reached the No.1 spot in Jamaica with ‘Too Fancy’.

With a deeply raw yet flexible quality to his voice, Beenie Man has turned crowds inside out the world over and as a veteran of the reggae scene knows how to entertain the masses with a little dancehall and mellow lovers’ rock.

It wasn’t until 1995 that Beenie really hit the big time with ‘Slam’, which boasted about the sexual ability of ghetto women in Kingston and was taken from the album ‘Blessed’. This track made him an international star giving him an international reputation whilst causing considerable controversy in Kingston and with deejays from other areas of Jamaica who disagreed with him.

Since then, Beenie has released other international releases including the highly successful ‘Many Moods Of Moses’ in 1997 which spawned the energetic Top 10 UK hit, ‘Who Am I’ (remember “Zim Zimma/ Who got the keys to ma bimma”).

It raced up the charts and is still the biggest ragga tune around to date.

‘Who Am I’ also established Beenie Man in America resulting in two Grammy nominations and the biggest chart success of his career.

He continued to build on this breakthrough with the major label releases, the Grammy Award-winning ‘Art And Life’ and ‘Tropical Storm’.

The latter included the mainstream hit single, ‘Feel It Boy’, featuring a guest vocal from Janet Jackson.

His success has also seen him been invited to collaborate with (as well as influence) such talent as Kelis, Janet Jackson, Jamelia, Wyclef Jean, The Neptunes, Lil’ Kim, Sly and Robbie, Shabba Ranks, Buju Banton, Lady Saw, and Mya (on summer anthem, ‘Girls Dem Sugar’).

Don’t miss the one and only Beenie Man when he plays a very special Irish date at Dublin’s Ambassador Theatre on Wednesday, June 23rd ’04.

Tickets go on sale this coming Monday, March 29th from Soundcellar, Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.

Tickets: €35.50 (inc. booking fee) will also be on-sale online from www.ticketmaster.ie
