Ok - for less than €80, I just bought this card...

    http://ie.europe.creative.com/estore/product.asp?prod=442

to try and squeeze some more life out of an old PIII 800mhz... (currently runs most games using an MX440)

Have I impulsively wasted money? Keep in mind I know its not the greatest for DX9 and that I could have gotten a 9600 for about 120 or so but tbh I think that for €80 there is not many other cards out there that will beat it...

Am I right or what? Any better cards for same price?

That is probably the best card to suit that system. You'd be wasting money trying to get more performance on an old machine like that,

And that's including delivery and it obviously comes with a full warranty - still pretty good value imo

The cheapest 9600 pro delivered would have set you back at least €50 more and I don't think performance on your system would be much better with that card

Thats a good buy. Its a great budget GFX card for any system. You'll be very happy with its performance for the money you have paid.

Very good price and a very good buy.

I had a Daytona GeForce4 Ti4200 which I bought about 2 years ago for the pricely enough sum of around €200. One of the RAM chips decided to burn out, and the manufacturer refused a refund (but that's a different story ). I might just buy that graphics card myself for a backup rig.

Although I do have to say that Creative are bunch of lying bastards. I sent them an email about a month ago asking whether there were any of those old GeForce4 Ti cards around and they sent me an email back assuring me they were all out of stock.
